xThis Arabic spice is pronounced (Zaah-tar) is most popularly used in the Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cuisines. Zaatar is a blend of herbs, sesame seeds, sumac and salt. Zaatar is a sour and nutty spice blend enjoyed as condiment. Add Zaatar to a good olive oil and use it as a dip for bread. Add Zaatar to sour cream, ricotta cheese and butter for amazing spreads and dips. Zaatar is also popularly used on pita bread brushed with oil and toasted.
