Our Story

Since 1936, quality ingredients have been at our core.

It all began in Gastown, Vancouver, when Mr. Johnston Galloway sold dried fruit and nuts from a small cart as the city was only fifty years old. Over the decades, the business evolved—stocking European specialty foods, global spices, grains, seeds, and more—to serve the multicultural palate of Vancouver on Robson Street.

In the 1970s, the Muljiani family arrived in Canada as refugees from Uganda and acquired the store from the original owner. Drawing on their background in East African and Indian culinary traditions, they infused the business with new energy and a passion for wholesome, vibrant food. Under their stewardship, what began on Robson Street became a celebrated local institution known for global ingredients and exceptional quality.

Although our followers still cherish memories of visiting our Robson, Richmond, New Westminster, Pacific Centre & Burnaby locations, today we operate exclusively online, continuing to deliver the same spirit and quality directly to your doorstep across Canada.
