xAllspice is not a spice mix. Rather it is a berry of an evergreen native to Jamaica. and is known as Jamaican pepper. It has a peppery taste with hints of cinnamon, clove and nutmeg. The French use it in pates and main uses are in desserts like pumpkin cake or pie, spice cakes and gingerbread. Whole allspice is used in pickles, stews and in brining.
