Cocoa was first made known to the Europeans by Columbus in 1502 and was brought back to Spain by Cortez in 1519. In 1580, the first chocolate factory opened in Spain and spread to the rest of Europe only affordable to the wealthy. By the mid 1800’s chocolate manufacturing processes were developed and now 4-7 kilos of chocolate is consumed per person per year. Cocoa nibs are mixed with cocoa butter and sugar. It is usually 30-35% cocoa butter, 60-70% cocoa mass and 5% sugar. Bittersweet is ideal for baking, enrobing, ganaches, decorations and more.
In order to keep costs at a minimum, we prefer to use Canada Post, Purolator and UPS as our shipping carriers. The shipping rate is calculated based on the address and weight of the product.We package everything fresh just for you! Because we package each order by demand to guarantee freshness, please allow 3-5 business days for your order to be shipped. You will recieve tracking details as soon as your package is on its way. We offer a pickup option on Tuesdays from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm at The Skript Kitchen and Commissary (250 West 3rd Avenue, Vancouver, BC)
