Vanilla beans

Vanilla is a spice derived from the Vanilla orchid in pods. The word vanilla is derived from the Spanish word “vaina” meaning “little pod”. Vanilla is the second most expensive spice after saffron because growing vanilla seed pods is labor -intensive. Vanilla is used primarily in domestic and commercial baking. Vanilla is also used in perfume production and aromatherapy.
